Hyaluronic Acid (Viscosupplementation /Joint Gel Injections)

Hyaluronic Acid is a natural bodily substance that is found in the eyes and joints of our body.

Hyaluronic Acid is a natural bodily substance that is found in the eyes and joints of our body. It acts a lubricant for our joints and allows our joints to move smoothly and fluidly without catching or pain. For individuals with osteoarthritis the cartilage in the joint space has broken down. This leads to less production of hyaluronic acid and leads to symptoms of pain, stiffness, and swelling. When this fluid is replaced via injection the joint becomes re-lubricated and allows the joint to move efficiently again. This treatment is most often used in the knees, hips, and shoulders. It can take several weeks before improvement is noticed and the effects of the injection typically last up to 6 months. There is no limit to the number of hyaluronic acid injections you can received and it is typically performed if other treatments have been unsuccessful in resolving an individuals symptoms.

All hyaluronic acid injections are provided here at our practice by our partner and licensed family nurse practitioner Brittany Raines, MSN, FNP-C, owner of the Healing Injectionist, LLC for $450/treatment. Please see meet the team to read more about Brittany. If you are interested in receiving this service please call 720-434-9380.
